Society Description

Reasons to start this society:

As a year 1 student currently on placement, we have experienced the overwhelming stress associated with adjusting to a new environment after beginning university. In addition to academic pressure, students deal with a variety of other pressures from patients and coworkers at the workplace. I have understood the importance of mental health, not only to myself but also to the patients.

In addition, student mental health issues have grown significantly in importance in recent years. An intense course load, long study sessions, high stress levels, and anxiety can all have a negative impact on students' mental health. Therefore, we would like to address this crisis and advocate the importance of mental health by establishing a society.

Aims and objective:

• Addressing the mental health crisis

• Gives medical students a platform to engage with one another and develop networks of support. Empower future medical professionals to prioritize their own wellbeing and equip them with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide compassionate care to their patients.

• Promote a culture of understanding, support, and wellbeing within the community.

• Collaboration with other medical societies to create a welcoming environment.

• Providing medical students with additional stress-relieving activities and a listening ear during clinical rotations or study periods.
