Society Description

We recognise the need for a society where Christian students, like-minded or not, can openly discuss Biblical and theological topics and how they apply to their lives and walks with God. The focus of other Christian societies on campus include things like evangelism, events, Bible study or time of prayer. Whilst this society contains events, the studying of Scripture, and prayer, we are unique in our aim to focus on internally-led talks/discussions about topics directly applicable to Christian students who are looking to mature their faith beyond core Christian concepts, as well as building a strong community of believers, especially amongst second and third years when it is harder to meet people due to location (though, of course, freshers are absolutely more than welcome!).

The Bible is very clear that meeting with fellow believers to discuss struggles, ask questions, edify one another, and addressing barriers in people’s faiths is very important. This is, after all, one of the reasons Paul wrote thirteen different letters to churches. We are passionate about creating a welcoming, genuine, and loving environment where believers can form intimate friendships, ask each other important questions, study Scripture and speak about things closest to their hearts.

Society’s aims and objectives:

- Discuss Biblical topics that are applicable to everyday life of believers and study Scripture with the aim of strengthening their faith and discovering truth in accordance with the Bible (Hebrews 10:24-25) (2 Timothy 4:2) (1 John 3:18)

- Form a strong community of believers that edify and encourage one another in our walks with the Lord, as well as socialise and have fun together. (Ephesians 4:25) (1 Thessalonians 5:11) (Hebrews 3:13)

- Glorify God and aim to be like Jesus in all that we do. (Matthew 5:16) (Romans 15:5-6) (1 Corinthians 10:31)
