Nationally there are already several FDNF set up at various universities and their charity events have helped raise money for the Foundation to support their training for surgeons to be able to operate in austere environments such as conflict zones or areas plaqued by natural disasters. 

- We aim to raise awareness of the Foundation's incredible work and to raise money for them. by raising awareness it gives medical students a chance to see the various ways in which surgery can be practised outside of the hospital environment and introduce a new career path to them. 

- Our committee members already have experience being involved with other surgical societies, this would be an additional specialty to introduce to the students
