Election Information

It is time to elect your new Dance Society Committee for the 2024/25 academic year! 

***Please see the Dance Society Newsletter emailed to all members for the full information on how to apply, as well as a detailed description of each role***

Being on the Dance Society Committee is a challenging, yet truly rewarding experience! We encourage all members to consider applying, and you can apply for as many positions as you like! Even if you do not wish to apply, we invite you to attend the Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 20th March 6-9pm in Forum Rooms 01, 02 & 03 to hear the candidates manifestos and have your say. Administrative and leadership positions are exclusively chosen by members, so your votes are very important!

Please note you must be a member of Dance Society in order to apply and vote. 

Voting will open at 9am on Thursday 21st March and close at 11pm on Wednesday 27th March. 

HOW TO APPLY: Administrative and Leadership Roles 

President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Publicity Officer, Social Secretary, Welfare Secretary, Competition Team Co-ordinator, Performance Team Co-ordinator

  1. Submit your manifesto (150-300 words) on the Student Guild platform explaining what skills and experience you have that would make you a good candidate by Wednesday 13th March 12pm (midday). Please note that if you are applying for Publicity Sec also attach your poster alongside your manifesto (a freshers week meet and greet, place: The Ram Bar Time: 3pm Date: Wednesday 25th September) - if you have any problem with manifesto/poster uploading, please contact ha458@exeter.ac.uk
  2. Attend the AGM on Wednesday 20th March 6-9pm Forum Rooms 01, 02, &03 and prepare to give a 2 minute speech (unless you are going for the roles of President or Vice President, in which case your speech needs to be 5 minutes). You will then be asked a few questions by Hannah (Pres), Poppy (VP) and the current committee member who's role you are applying for. 

HOW TO APPLY: Coach roles: 

Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Contemporary, Irish, Street, Commercial, Dance Fit 

  1. Please fill out this google form by Wednesday 13th March 12pm (midday), identifying which coach roles you would like to apply for: https://forms.gle/7qV4hBTynXCVBVz46 
  2. Attend the coach hustings on Wednesday 20th March 1-5pm in the M&D room to give a short speech (2 minutes) explaining what skills and experience you have that would make you a good coach. The panel (Hannah, Poppy and the current coach) will then ask you a few questions. Please note you will only need to attend your slot and a timetable will be sent closer to the time. 
  3. You will then be asked to perform a 30-60 second piece of choreography to a song chosen by the current coach. Please see the newsletter in your emails for these songs. Please note for Dance Fit Coach, you will not be required to perform choreography 

If you would like to apply but are unable to attend the AGM, please submit your manifesto still and then email ha458@exeter.ac.uk by Monday 11th March
